The Architect Behind the Vision
Graduated architecture school at Sint-Lucas Brussels in 2002. I moved to Cologne for a while, but with the economy struggling and job opportunities scarce, I came back to Belgium. The years that followed were spent learning the craft in practice — as an intern, then as project architect at Jo Peeters Architectuurgroep, where I worked across a wide range of building types and learned what it actually takes to bring a project from sketch to completion.
In 2007 I set out on my own. A few years later, I joined forces with Michael Jacobs under the name ctrl-A, a collaboration that ran from 2013 to 2015 and shaped the way I think about working with other designers.
Since 2020, I've been running Tom Naeyaert Architecture from Antwerp/Berchem — now in its current form, but built on close to two decades of hands-on experience.
My work today spans three areas:
Residential — single and multi-family homes, for private clients and developers alike.
Mixed use — because urban fabric is almost never a single-use function.
Heritage — the redevelopment of historic buildings, always seeking the delicate balance between innovation and tradition.
